Vintners Velo Inaugural Ride
Vintners’ Velo was established in 2018. It came about following the very successful ‘City to Surf’ cycle ride from London to Cornwall in 2015. An initiative of the then Master, Rupert Clevely, the ride covered a distance of 300 miles in 3 days and raised £55,000.
Vintners’ Velo aims to create cycling activities for interested cyclists among the membership of the Vintners Company together with their families, friends and colleagues.
The first ride was on Saturday 23 June 2018 and was part of the Master Vintners’ ‘Fellowship day’ aimed at members and their guests.
The day consisted of a walk of 10 miles or a choice of two cycle routes – 50 km or 100 km.
24 cyclists took part with many sporting the brand new ‘Vintners’ Velo’ kit. Overall, just under 100 Vintners and their guests attended the day.
The day raised £12,500 for the Vintners’ Foundation and was only made possible through the magnificent hospitality and generosity of our hosts, the Master and Mistress Vintner, Nick and Miranda Arkell.
