The Wine & Spirit Education Trust

The Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) provides globally recognised education and qualifications in wines, spirits and sake for professionals and enthusiasts.

The Vintners’ Company provides the following support and awards to the WSET:

+ The Vintners' Scholarship

Awarded to the graduate achieving the highest aggregate mark in all units of the WSET Diploma. The award is open to all Diploma graduates from across the world.

As well as a cash travel bursary, a Vintners’ Company decanter is also presented so that the Cup can remain at the WSET.

In a year where a UK student wins the Cup, no bursary will be provided as the same individual will also have won the Scholarship – see below.

+ The Vintners' Scholarship

A travel bursary awarded to the top UK Student on the WSET Diploma course. Described as a ‘Bourse de Voyage’ to enable the winner to travel to the wine/spirit producing region of their choice.

+ Hors Concours

A case of mixed wine, awarded to the WSET top non-trade graduate.

+ The Patrick Sandeman Vintners' Award

One of the 3 travel bursaries awarded to Advanced Certificate students to assist with the cost of an overseas wine study tour.

+ The Michael Cox Vintners' Award

One of the 3 travel bursaries awarded to Advanced Certificate students to assist with the cost of an overseas wine study tour.

+ The John Avery Vintners' Award

One of the 3 travel bursaries awarded to Advanced Certificate students to assist with the cost of an overseas wine study tour.
